The investigation mainly contains technical-typological classification of the lithic assemblages discovered from Ilanlitepe and Chalagantepe, ancient settlements of the early farming communities of Karabakh. Tools had mainly been made by obsidian in Ilanlitepe, whereas in Chalagantepe together with obsidian, sickle elements had especially been prepared by flint. The results of lithic investigation show highly technological progress and potential of the ancient inhabitants of these settlements. Although, lamella technique through flaking had been dominant in both ancient settlements, artifacts through knapping technique were also rarely occured. Retouching had mostly been used for making tools, but chip flaking and blading had rarely been determined. The results of typological analysis demonstrate blunt retouched but very rarely sharpened retouched lamellas, protruding lamellas, arrowheads, polished artifacts and scrapers. There are both similarities and local differences of the lithic assemblages from Ilanlitepe and Chalagantepe either among themselves or compared to other artifacts discovered from the Neolithic and Chalcolthic settlements of Azerbaijan.en_US
