dc.description.abstract | In this article, by the anatomical methods examined wood samples, found in archaeological excavations of the medieval city of Shamkir. It was defined that samples of wood, in anti-seismic masonry walls of the monumental building belonging IX-X centuries are oak species. Wood samples found in the cultural layer of the beginning of the XIII century belong to the species of juniper. Currently, the natural vegetation of the study area is strongly degraded. Mountain forests are mainly found on the slopes of Shamkirchay Basin. Here distributed beech, oak, hornbeam, ash, birch, poplar trees too. On the steep slopes of the left bank Shamkirchay, on the rocky slopes rarely distributed juniper. Other researchers also usually found subfossil samples belonging representatives of the juniper and oak species. | en |
