Part of Gobustan’s collection of Medieval rock carvings includes various shapes of tamgas and signs. In Gobustan, tamga-type signs are obtained not only on the rocks, but also on tombstones in Boyukdash mountain cemetery, Garaatli cemetery on Kichikdash mountain, Sofi Hamid sanctuary and Sofi Novruz sanctuary cemetery, in cemeteries near settlements once used as winter pastures, as well as Sangachal and Miajik caravanserais.Tamga and signs are very informative resources for covering certain issues of Medieval history, by having a large, widespread geography and involving archeological and epigraphic materials. The article provides information about the semantics and chronology of the tamgas and signs recorded in a number of cemeteries in Gobustan.en_US
