Abstract: The Moon of the Fourteenth Night could be considered as a brief overview of Islamic law, Iranian culture, and social issues regarding a marriage between a man and a woman from two different religions contexts, a love story between a French diplomat and a Muslim girl. The French diplomat, Edouard Valmont, falls for a Muslim Iranian girl during the time of Constitutional Revolution. The story of this forbidden love between a Christian and a Muslim, first was written by the lover himself as a diary of their brief romance, and later was expanded into a novel. The novel portrays the impossibility of inter-faith love in the religious context of Constitutional Revolution, and this study aims to investigate how such love is conditioned by religious circumstances of that time.
