Abstract: In the article it is given information about the tragedy, it is paid attention Aristotle’s theory of tragedy, and it is investigated the place of it on philosophy and on aesthetics. In the article, it has compared Plato’s opinions with the theory of Aristotle about tragedy also. The reasons for Plato’s attitude toward tragic art are being researched. It can be said about Plato that he did not accept the tragedy as an art sample or artwork, even he said that it would not be the place for the tragedy in his “ideal state”. Plato preferred to silence more than just talking about the tragedy.
