Abstract: The President of Sri Lanka, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, set a defiant note on Sept. 24, 2014 in his address to the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Not only did he pooh-pooh the notion of a troubled nation-state that he was presiding over, he also categorically said that ‗external intervention‘ in the name of human rights was simply unacceptable.
