Abstract: This thesis describes the causative and the passive constructions of the Azerbaijani and English languages. The functions of the causatives and passives in the sentences and their similarities and differences are described comparatively in Azerbaijani and English. In Azerbaijani the causative and the passive verbs are used in different structures in the sentences. They are derived by adding affixes to transitive and intransitive verbs. In English, affixes are not used to derive the passive and causative forms of the verbs. They are used in different forms in the sentences. These different features and constructions are described from a comparative perspective.
